Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend! What are your plans this weekend? Michael and I are thankful for a slower week & with no real plans for the weekend.  I am however, looking forward to trying a few new recipes from  my newest recipe book- That Sugar Guide. We are also planing on fixing/cleaning up a few old bikes we have lying around and before heading to the park.

Here are a few links that have caught our attention this week, including the most popular wedding dress on Pinterest.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend

Instagram Accounts To Follow

I am no longer on instagram but if I were, there are a few people I would definitely be following.

They each have open accounts and I often end my day looking through their posts and updates.

Here are a list of FIVE accounts that "I follow" without technically following;

P O L L Y (@polly_loves).  Such beautiful photographs of her family life in London. I love how she documents her family narrative in such an organic and memorable way.

Esther Van De Paal (@estherbabyccino)  Esther is one of the co-founders of the Babyccino kids blog. She lives in Amsterdam with her husband and four children and her photographic journal reminds me of our family back in Holland.

Joanna Goddard (@joannagoddard). Joanna is the founder of the popular cupofjo blog and one of my favourites to follow. The lifestyle blog covers parenting in other countrie to house tours. Her series "suprising things about parenting" is certainly worth reading!

Humans of New York (@humansofny) I've mentioned before how much I am addicted to following their blog and now they have an equally wonderful instagram account. The site interviews random people on the streets of NY telling "one story at a time". You will love the range of stories and how they will subtly remain with you.

Louis Vuitton Official (@louisvuitton) because the photographs are perfection and they're not just about the handbags but all things beautiful and creative.

A Day In The Hunter

Last Thursday to celebrate my Mother's 60th birthday we all took a day trip to the Hunter Valley. Mum and Dad took a helicopter ride across the valley and when they landed we surprised her with 60 red roses (her favourite flower) and a bottle of champagne. We spent the rest of the day indulging in gourmet foods, handmade chocolates and loitering through picturesque gardens. Here are a few pictures snapped on my IPhone if you'd like to see;

A surprise dinner party was planned for last weekend but since Luca unexpectedly had to go into hospital the party was cancelled.

The most important thing is that Mum had a wonderful day. She kept commenting that this is "exactly what I wanted to do for my birthday".

Happy birthday mum. It was only once I became a mother that I truly realised how AMAZING you really are.

A Message for the Anti-Vaccine Movement

How was your weekend? We had an unexpected turn of events when Luca was admitted into hospital for a couple of days. It was an exhausting and anxious time but we are thankful to be on the mend now and feeling more like ourselves again.

When we were in hospital every Nurse and Doctor who came to check on Luca asked us about his vaccination history and whether he was up to date. Of course both our children are vaccinated and we support the movement but I was reminded of that hilarious clip by Jimmy Kimmel LIVE on the Anti-Vaccine Movement. If you haven't seen it you can watch it here and the update on the discussion- here. It's hilarious and definitely worth watching!

The debate on whether or not to vaccinate your child is gaining momentum and I think it's important to do your own research and critical thinking on the matter.

What is your stance on the issue?

Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend all. What are your plans for the weekend? We are celebrating Father's Day, my mother's 60th birthday and our wedding anniversary. I hope whatever you do- you have a wonderful weekend with the people you love.

Here are a few fun links from around the web that caught our attention this week, including a peek at the new fashion line Houston Graeff!

Father's Day

This Sunday is Father's Day and we have a big weekend planned. Not only are we going to celebrate Michael and both our dad's but it's also my mum's 60th and our wedding anniversary! On Sunday we are going to have a paella after church to celebrate all the dad's and the kids have made Michael handmade cards at preschool with a bag of sweets (I might sneak in some dutch liquorice for him).

Here are a few quotes about Father's to honour the men in your life.

"Because of my father, we are that Shining City on a Hill". - Michael Reagan

Babies don't need fathers, but mothers do. Someone who is taking care of a baby needs to be taken care of"-  Amy Heckerling

"My father and I have a very good relationship. We always got along. But I always scold him"- Amy Sedaris

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers who lift the load and love unconditionally everyday.

A House Tour

Happy Monday! To kick off the week I have a stunning three bedroom house in Annandale to loiter through . The owners have renovated this home with a focus on outdoor-indoor living. I particularly love the high ceilings and the doors leading out to the timber deck- allowing the natural light to flood the living area.

The house also features; polished timber floors a guest wing retreat and a purpose built study- perfect for a growing family.

What's your favourite space in the house? I really love how the dinning table flows from the kitchen. Since becoming a parent I've learnt how essential open plan living is to any growing family. And how perfectly decorated is little Zoe's room! A special place to call her own.

This house is for sale through BresicWhitney Real Estate Sydney
